Overseas and military voters from San Bernardino County (CA) were able to use the OmniBallot ballot delivery tool for the first time. After downloading their ballots, voters were asked to participate in a short survey about their voting experience.
Below is a summary of the survey results and actual voter feedback about their experience.
The OmniBallot technology made my voting experience:
I had never voted as I just recently became a citizen. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to as I am 2200 miles away from home and didn’t have anyone to forward the ballot to me by mail. It was awesome to be able to print the ballot, vote, and mail it just days before the election.
Out here in Thailand, I am always on the move! This not only made my vote quick safe, and easy, it made it possible. Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Was the system easy to learn to use?
As a military member, this system made it much easier this election to vote. I was able to download my ballot, fill it out, and send it in when I was away from my home base on military detachment orders. I highly recommend it to those who qualify for using this method to vote.
It is because of this technology that I was able to participate in history, and to show my commitment and patriotism to my home country.
I lived in Africa and I was able to vote quickly and effectively hassle-free. Really well done!
Do you feel OmniBallot helped you vote more easily?
Living abroad with no access to a postal service or U.S. consulate, I was worried that I woud not be able to participate in the important elections this year. This technology made the process much easier, and I hope to be able to use it again in the future.
It allowed me to receive my ballot in a timely manner and not have to worry about having it come from the mail services which may not always be as reliable.
This technology made my first time voting easy, even when away from home.
If the law allowed for it, would you feel comfortable using OmniBallot in every election, home and abroad?
As a student studying overseas with many other students from many other states, I can say that my voting experience was one of the easiest that any of us went through. The only thing that could possibly make the experience any better would be voting online and submitting it electronically.
It would be great to be able to email the ballots in, or do them online since I had to fax it in–which was hard to find a working fax in my office complex. But, I was grateful to be able to print and then get it sent off.
